// Piracy · The Law
Break the law and you pick up a CrimeStat that draws security and bounty hunters. Here's what the tiers mean, how the heat works, and where the law doesn't reach at all.
CR1
Petty
Minor infractions — trespass, soft trespass, small fines. Usually payable at an admin/ASOP kiosk.
CR2
Minor
Repeat or moderate offences. Security takes notice; some armistice/landing restrictions begin.
CR3
Serious
Assault, theft, destruction. Can no longer just pay it off — clear it at Security Post Kareah or by serving time. Security ships engage.
CR4
Severe
Major or repeated violent crime. Strong security response and active player bounties.
CR5
Most Wanted
Top of the wanted list — heaviest response, locked out of secure zones, a magnet for bounty hunters.
Crimes are only reported where a comm array is broadcasting. Destroy or hack a region's comm array to 'go dark' — crimes committed there won't be logged. It's prevention, not a cure for a CrimeStat you already have.
Weapons are disabled and you can't be attacked inside station/landing-zone armistice bubbles — but a high CrimeStat can lock you out of docking and landing services entirely.
Small infractions can be paid off at an admin kiosk. A full CrimeStat (CR3+) can't — hack Security Post Kareah (needs a crypto key) or serve time at Klescher (mine prison ore for merits to cut the sentence).
Die with a serious CrimeStat and you respawn in Klescher Rehabilitation Facility (Aberdeen) instead of a hospital — do the time, or work it off, to walk out clean.
Law: UEE Advocacy + corporate security: Crusader Security, Hurston Security, microTech, and ArcCorp each police their own planet and moons.
For outlaws: Operate in the gaps — asteroid belts, the Aaron Halo, deep space between planets, and the moons far from comm arrays. Grim HEX (Yela) is the outlaw hub.
Law: No UEE jurisdiction. No CrimeStat enforcement worth the name — the system is run by gangs and survival is on you.
For outlaws: The frontier for pirates: raid freely and offload hot cargo without the law on your back — but every other outlaw is hunting the same prey.
The best-known pirate gang — raiders and extortionists behind the recurring Nine Tails Lockdown event.
Anti-corporate radicals who target corporate shipping and infrastructure.
A brutal Pyro outfit known for hijacking and ransom.
Law-system mechanics shift between patches — treat this as a guide and verify in-game.
